Homelessness Resources
Code Blue
The City activates a Code Blue when we’re expecting very cold conditions. This includes:
When there’s precipitation and the temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.
When it feels near or below 20 degrees due to wind chill.
During a Code Blue, the City takes special measures to keep people who are homeless safe. These measures include:
24-hour outreach to find people who are homeless and transport them to safe indoor spaces.
Additional shelter beds.
Allowing homeless people to stay inside emergency housing throughout the day.
If you see someone experiencing homelessness during a Code Blue, please call the Homeless Services hotline at (215) 232-1984 or refer to this document from Project HOME.
Trash Pickup Details
Trash and recycling collections are on a holiday schedule. Set materials out one day AFTER your regular day (Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 below Tasker or Friday January 3rd above Tasker). For holiday weeks in 2x pickup zones like ours, the weekend pickup is skipped.
Read more about the city of Philadelphia’s protocol for holiday and other trash pickup guidelines here:
Immigration Resources from PR&LA
Here are some resources which may be helpful for any business that faces concerns with immigration enforcement:
The National Restaurant Association and the Restaurant Law Center have prepared a quick memo for operators, which can be found here. A webinar will be hosted on February 10th at 2pm ET to learn more – registration and details for that can be found here.
The American Hotel and Lodging Association provided this flyer titled 5 steps for employers regarding immigration enforcement. I have also heard the Commerce Dept is working with the Office of Immigration Affairs to develop a resource guide specifically for small businesses. I’ll keep you all posted.
BOI Filing Updates
The Beneficial Ownership Information Report is filed to the Federal Government as part of the Corporate Transparency Act. This report was previously under a federal court injunction, but as of December 23rd it was reinstated by the US Court of Appeals. The filing deadline was January 13th; however, this due date has been pushed back indefinitely. Failure to report may result in fines of $500 per day. This affects all small businesses except: non-profits, publicly traded, or businesses with over 21 employees. Keep up with the latest decisions here and learn how to file this 5-minute application at the link below.
