Commerce Department’s Free business tax Preparation Program
Commerce Department’s Free business tax Preparation Program
In January, Philadelphia businesses can access free tax preparation services. Due to the $100,000 BIRT exemption going away, we anticipate that more entrepreneurs will need support to file their taxes for the first time. Commerce plans to connect at least 5,000 business owners with $250,000 or less in revenue to high-quality tax prep services at no cost to the business. Sign up today to be notified when the program launches + learn more about the program by clicking the button below!

Homelessness Resources
Code Blue
The City activates a Code Blue when we’re expecting very cold conditions. This includes:
When there’s precipitation and the temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.
When it feels near or below 20 degrees due to wind chill.
During a Code Blue, the City takes special measures to keep people who are homeless safe. These measures include:
24-hour outreach to find people who are homeless and transport them to safe indoor spaces.
Additional shelter beds.
Allowing homeless people to stay inside emergency housing throughout the day.
If you see someone experiencing homelessness during a Code Blue, please call the Homeless Services hotline at (215) 232-1984 or refer to this document from Project HOME.

Here are some resources which may be helpful for any business that faces concerns with immigration enforcement:
The National Restaurant Association and the Restaurant Law Center have prepared a quick memo for operators
The American Hotel and Lodging Association provided this flyer titled 5 steps for employers regarding immigration enforcement. I have also heard the Commerce Dept is working with the Office of Immigration Affairs to develop a resource guide specifically for small businesses. I’ll keep you all posted.
