Women Mean Business - Panel Discussion and Networking

In collaboration w/She Rocked It, East Passyunk Avenue (home to 80+ women-owned businesses) presents an inspiring panel & networking event.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District and She Rocked It present a panel discussion with women business owners from East Passyunk Avenue about their experiences, challenges, and successes. East Passyunk is home to over 160 independently-owned businesses, about 45% of which are owned by women.

Join us for an evening of learning, sharing, and networking with a diverse group of women leaders and entrepreneurs. This free event is open to the public, though space is limited and RSVP is required.

Emcee: Karen Gross - Celebrated entertainer, creative entrepreneur, and founder/host of She Rocked It – a podcast and community dedicated to raising the volume on women’s voices

Speakers:

  • Jennifer Zavala – Owner of Juana Tamale and Top Chef alumna
  • Shana Heidorn – Owner of Society Hill Dance Academy and professional ballroom, Latin, and wedding dance instructor
  • Cara Stipa – CEO and Creative Director of The Utopia Collective and acclaimed wedding and events planner
  • Elissa Kara – Philadelphia native and artist/owner of Nice Things Handmade

East Passyunk businesswomen will discuss:

  • Overcoming misconceptions about women's business acumen (held by mentors, prospective investors, or even staff and customers)
  • Unique short-term and long-term challenges in running their businesses and sustaining them during the pandemic
  • The importance of creating a supportive business community, including a network of women business owners

Q&A, community conversation, and networking to follow. Light refreshments will be served.
