What is RSS?
RSS is a family of web feed formats specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats) and used for Web syndication. RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed," "webfeed," "RSS stream," or "RSS channel." These RSS feeds provide a way for you to passively receive newly released content (such as the latest Avenue News).

We publish a feed link on this site which you can add to an aggregator program running on your computer; periodically (typically every 5-10 minutes, though most aggregators make this user configurable), the aggregator asks all the servers in its feed list if they have new content; if so, the aggregator either makes a note of the new content or downloads it. You can be notified of new content without having to actively check for it.

How can I view the Avenue's RSS feeds?
RSS-aware programs are available for various operating systems. Client-side readers and aggregators are typically constructed as standalone programs or extensions to existing programs such as web browsers. Browsers such as Flock, Mozilla Firefox (1.5 or higher), Safari, Web Browser for S60, Opera and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 have integrated support for RSS feeds.

Once you have the required software, enter the Avenue's RSS feed address (http://www.visiteastpassyunk.com/rss.xml) into your standalone aggregator. If using a browser with an RSS compatible reader, look for the RSS logo on the homepage or your browser's RSS pickup icon in the menu bar.
